The good LGU executive

Local government executives, mayors especially, seem to push for projects that are highly visible and easy to execute. So we have mayors who would rather built skywalks instread of bridges. Or new city halls.

I think a good mayor is one who can build an efficient drainage system or a safe garbage dump. But these are not high profile projects. People rarely visit a dumpsite so most voters won't be able to see the billboard announcing the name of the administration who built the dump. A good drainage is also best unseen. Where would they place the billboard?

The challenges of building a dumpsite and drainage might just be too much for local talent. Its political return is negligible. So there.
